The Reserves started their League campaign today with a stunning 4 - 3 victory at Springfield who went up with us last season, as Champions.
James Lakey got a good start in his endeavour NOT to be runner-up as Club Leading Scorer for the third season running as he grabbed a brace, whilst Francis Dean and Louis Elwood scored one each to complete matters.

First game of the new season on a wet and windy Wednesday night! Herongate with close ties to the club were our opponents and would prove a hard team to break down.
We started well even with a very quick pitch which made it hard to control our passes and touch, but even with the hard conditions, we did start to create a few good chances. Joe & Kev slowly started to control the middle and with adam and gav linking up and some good crosses from Rob Dunkley, Lee and Gav we nearly got an early lead.
The back three were without skipper Glenn Wright but a young Danny Drury didn’t look out of place and as a three were never really in trouble.
Second half started with us on top, just as we were in the first half, knocking the ball left to right freely and patiently building up play. Unfortunately (apart from the odd misplaced pass) we made one mistake which went on to lose us the game. A blip in communication between Liam and Joe lead to Joe being dispossessed on the edge of the box and thus leaving their striker (Danny Steel - one of our old boys) one-on-one with Liam and led to an easy finish.
I think it was fair to say that we should have gone away with something if not all 3 points, but it goes to prove that in this league there is no room for mistakes.
Good start to the season but shame about the result.
